Then, in 2026\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We predict a massive acceleration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The popularity of restaurant AI is only going to grow next year, with popular trends like voice assistants and predictive analytics getting bigger, stronger, and more impactful than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this blog, we\u2019ll share the four restaurant AI trends to watch in 2026\u2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But not without taking a moment to appreciate how far restaurant AI has come, first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Restaurant AI Has Changed (And Improved)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Restaurant AI has steadily gained popularity over the past few years, but it\u2019s not as new a concept as you might think.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In reality, AI has been used in restaurants for longer than ChatGPT has been \u201calive\u201d \u2014 it just looked a bit different (and a lot simpler) back then.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Domino\u2019s Pizza, for example, is often deemed one of the oldest AI users in the restaurant industry, launching voice assistant \u201cDom\u201d back in <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.dominos.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/meet-dom-virtual-voice-ordering-assistant-dominos-pizzar\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span>October 2014<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dom enabled users to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W-J_v0rPsZE\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span>place orders verbally<\/span><\/a> through Domino\u2019s app, toggling on their microphones to tell Dom what size pizza they wanted or even ask for suggestions. That includes everything from payment, with <a href=\"https:\/\/squareup.com\/us\/en\/the-bottom-line\/series\/foc\/future-of-restaurants\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span>49% of consumers<\/span><\/a> preferring the faster contactless payment option, to ordering, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurantbusinessonline.com\/operations\/nearly-half-consumers-will-skip-place-has-no-drive-thru-study-finds\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span>47% of consumers<\/span><\/a> saying they\u2019d skip a drive-thru-less establishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, in 2026, we expect restaurants to better cater to <em>both<\/em> preferences with AI-powered drive-thru solutions \u2014 like Bo-Linda, Bojangles\u2019 new AI-powered, drive-thru voice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bo-Linda was created by tech company Hi Auto, designed to decrease the drive-thru\u2019s dependence on (human) employees while improving service speed and accuracy for a better customer experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, based on the initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.restaurantbusinessonline.com\/technology\/bojangles-speeds-ahead-drive-thru-ai?utm_source=Marketo&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=NL_RB_Daily_07-25-24_09:00&amp;LID=53767160&amp;sp_eh=7b5f75641b9d3e4d1e624a14cbd4bead75fe84e68e729a6e4369a1fc364d0d31&amp;mkt_tok=NTYxLVpOUC04OTcAAAGUiS90uKDefqYn8zKVyJV7IItp1hDa5tFiD8B-tOHoOZm-MkUhjbRBHISrHR2kBcfMUsRr5eQyz-syEGvjnOsrhNRzB_yRIMqOQSfMQroJnZbwsfBm\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span>200-store rollout,<\/span><\/a> things are going really well.
