It doesn\u2019t have to be overly sales-y or pushy, either. Craver is here to help with our free Review Response Template!\u00a0<\/div>\n\t\t\n        \n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#Form\"\n\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tstyle=\"background-image: linear-gradient(to left, rgb(217,58,1), rgb(239,100,16));\"\n\t\t\t\tclass=\"\"\n\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"\" \n\t\t\tstyle='color:#ffffff;'\t\t\t>\n\t\t\t\tDownload Now\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How <em>not<\/em> to get more Google reviews<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, now that you know the <em>best <\/em>ways to get more Google reviews, what about the <em>worst<\/em> ways?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are three things you should never do to get new and positive Google reviews.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t ever pay for Google reviews&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When a customer leaves a positive Google review, and you respond with a discount or reward for their next visit, that\u2019s a kind gesture.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if you offer a customer a reward, a discount, or even money <em>in exchange<\/em> for leaving a positive Google review?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s not only unethical, but it\u2019s considered \u201cfake engagement\u201d by Google \u2014 and it goes against their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/contributionpolicy\/answer\/7400114?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=7422769#zippy=%2Cfake-engagement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prohibited &amp; restricted content<\/a>\u201d policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t ask only happy customers for Google reviews&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you only ask satisfied customers to leave a Google review of your coffee shop, that\u2019s called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soci.ai\/knowledge-articles\/review-gating\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">review gating<\/a>,\u201d and it\u2019s:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unethical and misleading,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Against Google\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/contributionpolicy\/answer\/7400114?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=7422769#zippy=%2Cfake-engagement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prohibited &amp; restricted content<\/a>\u201d policy, <em>and<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Against the Federal Trade Commission\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/business-guidance\/resources\/featuring-online-customer-reviews-guide-platforms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best practices for online customer reviews<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026a triple whammy lesson in \u201cwhat not to do to get Google reviews.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t post fake Google Reviews (or review your own business)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Posting fake Google reviews \u2014 or reviewing your own business under fake accounts \u2014 also goes directly against Google\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/contributionpolicy\/answer\/7400114?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=7422769#zippy=%2Cfake-engagement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prohibited &amp; restricted content<\/a>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, unlike the other two not-so-great Google review practices, violating this one can have legal consequences. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/news-events\/news\/press-releases\/2024\/08\/federal-trade-commission-announces-final-rule-banning-fake-reviews-testimonials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a new Federal Trade Commission ruling<\/a>, any business found to be posting fake or false consumer reviews can be hit with a civil penalty of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftc.gov\/legal-library\/browse\/federal-register-notices\/16-cfr-part-465-trade-regulation-rule-use-consumer-reviews-testimonials-final-rule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up to $51,744<\/a> per violation <em>and<\/em> taken to court.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wrap up&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you know <em>how <\/em>to get more Google reviews for your coffee shop, it\u2019s time to put some things into action.
